CIA Başkanı Ratcliffe’tan Moskova’ya sürpriz ziyaret

John Ratcliffe, the director of the CIA, arrived in Moscow on an unannounced trip. Sources close to the visit reported that he held several meetings in Russia, but neither the U.S. nor Russian governments, nor the CIA itself, released an official statement about the purpose of the trip or the identities of the parties he met.

The news surfaced after a Boeing C‑17A Globemaster III transport aircraft belonging to the U.S. Air Force was spotted at a Moscow airport, and a U.S. diplomatic convoy was observed in the area. Neither side offered comments on the American official present, and the CIA has yet to issue any public explanation.

This trip marks the first time a CIA director has travelled to Russia. Ratcliffe had earlier led negotiations for the release of U.S. citizen Ksenia Karelina in April 2025 and was involved in the 2024 exchange of the journalist Evan Gershkovich and former Navy SEAL Paul Whelan. His Moscow visit came amid a period when Ukraine peace talks have largely stalled, with the parties remaining at odds on key issues.
